How often should an ecommerce brand post on Instagram?
A sane cadence for stores, based on what you can photograph and what Instagram will actually distribute.
Consistency beats a burst
Accounts that post fourteen times in a weekend and then go silent train the audience to ignore them. A smaller rhythm you can keep for a quarter is worth more than a launch week.
A workable default for a product business: one photo post a day, a few Reels a week, and Stories only when there is something to say. That is already more than most stores maintain by hand.
Match the cadence to the catalog
Ten products cannot support a unique hero shot every day without repetition. Rotate modes instead: hero, a detail, a plain explanation, a brand note, then a different product. The feed feels alive because the framing changes, not because you bought more inventory.
If you have a deep catalog, don’t feature everything equally in week one. Give the products people can actually buy the first turn, then bring the quiet ones back in.
Don’t confuse drafts with distribution
You can write as many captions as you like. Instagram will not publish unlimited posts, and it will not show all of them. Separate the writing queue from the publishing queue. If a post fails, say so. A calendar full of imaginary “published” stamps is how teams lose track of a dead account.
